Vitra Potence Wall Lamp
Designed as a pivoting wall lamp for the Maison Tropique, the Potence Wall Lamp is regarded as one of Jean Prouvé‘s puristic masterpieces. The swing arm is over 2m long for maximum reach. Simply designed with a powder coated tubular steel arm and beechwood handle, the Potence Lamp is a minimalist, mid-century light which continues to compete in the style stakes with its more contemporary rivals.
Jean Prouvé initially trained as a metal artisan and created numerous furniture designs before opening his own factory. His broad expertise has created many household products from letter openers to pre-fabricated homes. Vitra have been issuing re-editions of his work since 2002.
