LYFA Ninotchka Pendant Lamp

When giving shape to this lamp, Bent Karlby had taken note of an eye-catching hat, worn by the Swedish Hollywood star Greta Garbo in her 1939 film, Ninotchka. Designed to provide diffuse upward lighting and even and direct downlight. A design icon, it is easily recognisable with its organic shape and asymmetric drape.

Bent Karlby was regarded as one of the most prolific and versatile Danish designers of the 20th Century. Known for his soft light, organic shapes and hallmark peepholes, during his career his work moved towards more pure geometric shapes such as the cylinder, cone and arc.
