Northern Birdy Swing Table Lamp

The Birdy Table Lamp is part of a series including floor and wall lamps. Designed in 1952, in a modernist style, the series was produced and sold by the Norwegian electricity company Sønnico (Oslo). In 1954 the lamp was awarded the highly esteemed Golden Medal at the Milan Triennale. Mirroring the strong geometric shapes and soft, gentle contours of the long-armed wall lamp, the Birdy swing lamp continues to celebrate Dahl’s striking signature style and ever relevant modern design language.

A Norwegian pioneer of Post-war architecture and lighting, Birger Dahl was renowned for his use of geometric shapes, softened with gentle contours. The simplicity of form and materials used in his designs make them timeless.
