A childhood fascination with his father’s naval engineering drawings became a lifelong love and the lines of ships and boats are a recurring theme in Jørn Utzon’s designs. The Utzon Lamp is reminiscent of great ship lamps and ocean liners of past days. It is a successful combination of sleek shape and contemporary copper and white finishes.
Jørn Utzon is arguably Denmark’s most famous architect of all time. Utzon attended the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts from where he gratuated in 1942. During the following years he worked at Alvar Aalto's office, learning more about functionalism and aesthetics. Best known for designing the Sydney Opera House in Australia, he has also left a legacy of unique and inspired lighting designs.
