Fritz Hansen Orient Pendant Lamp

Originally designed in 1963, the Orient Pendant Lamp was relaunched in 2013 by Lightyears. With its organic shape and use of exquisite materials, it stands the test of time. Its turned rosewood top sits on a copper or aluminium shade which filters soft light both through the vertical slots at the top of the shade and through the base.

Jo Hammerborg’s design legacy will continue through the re-release of the Orient Lamp. A prime example of his understanding of form, function and aesthetics, the Orient Lamp is as relevant today as when it was launched. Having studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked as a silversmith at Georg Jensen, Hammerborg was hired as chief designer at the lamp manufacturer Fog & Mørup in 1957. During his lifetime he created over 180 different designs of lamps.
